Church Co-Founder
Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church
in Waterloo, Iowa

Rachael Patterson is widow of the late Reverend Elick Patterson. They both were raised with strong Christian values and come from a small town called Ackerman, Mississippi. After almost ten years of marriage Reverend Patterson decided that he wanted a different life for his family. In the 1950s, he relocated his family to Waterloo, Iowa and worked at John Deere Company. As devoted Christians, they quickly searched for a spiritual home and joined a local church. Several years later, Reverend Patterson was called into preaching and he built Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Waterloo. Mrs. Patterson tells the challenges and the joy that came with building the church and watching it grow.
